Anaheim is family-focused and offers many free outdoor activities. Families can attend free and low-cost art activities and storytime at the museum. Get outside and enjoy hiking, walking, and natural areas at Anaheim’s free parks. In addition, families can enjoy budget-friendly theme parks or experience inexpensive train rides.

Experiencing family fun in Anaheim doesn’t have to break the bank.

Bowers Museum

Bower’s Museum has a full schedule of family-focused activities and presentations. Families can join the Drop In and Draw event. Kids will watch cartoons and learn how to draw their favorite Looney Tunes characters. This event is free for all ages.

The museum hosts Bowers’ Books for Kids: Storytime in the Galleries on the last Saturday of the month. Kids will enjoy a story reading and participate in an art project. This event is included in museum admission.

On August 7th, families can participate in the exciting Caribbean Summer Festival. Families can learn limbo and salsa, enjoy lively music, participate in art projects, and practice playing steel drums.

Fullerton Arboretum

Fullerton Arboretum offers families a great way to enjoy the outdoors and learn more about conservation. There’s no fee to visit so you can enjoy the arboretum’s grounds for free. Families can enjoy the gardens, walk the pathways, and take pictures.

Fullerton Arboretum has 26 acres and features over 4,000 plant species. The arboretum is also home to the Victorian 1894 “Heritage House.” Families will love the children’s garden.

Walking paths take visitors around the gardens, which include several ponds and a waterfall. Waterfowl often grace the ponds, and you can watch for birds in the woodlands section.

Adventure City

Adventure City features super-size fun at a bargain price. You can purchase Fun Cards starting at $10. The Fun Cards provide access to Arcade games and the adventurous climbing wall. You can also use Fun Cards in the Petting Farm to feed the adorable animals.

If you want to experience everything Adventure City offers, general admission is just $26.95. You can experience all of Adventure City’s rides, attractions, and shows. A family of four can enjoy the park for less than the cost of one ticket at some of the other local theme parks! Families can enjoy laid-back and accessible fun without walking 20 miles around a park or struggling to find parking.

Kids Empire

Kids Empire offers an amazing way to let your kids blow off steam and have fun. Adults are free, and kid's tickets are just $10 each. Kids Empire has The Maze playground for older kids and a Tots playground for toddlers.

In the Maze area, kids can build anything they like with fun blocks. Kids can climb on the climbing structures, play soccer, slide slides, or drive around in a mini-car. The Tots area has soft slides, a ball pit, and a trampoline. Kids Empire focuses on kids having fun!

Irvine Park Railroad

The Irvine Park Railroad features a one-third-scale train that rides through the beautiful Irvine Regional Park. Train Rides are just $6 each. While at the park, you can rent bikes, paddle boats, or visit the zoo. Irvine Park also offers hiking and pony rides.

Visitors are welcome to bring lunch and enjoy a BBQ or picnic. Picnic areas and BBQs are available throughout the park.

Anaheim has many natural areas. In addition to Irvine Park, families can explore Oak Canyon Center and enjoy hiking and outdoor activities.
