Disneyland is magical all year long and is fun in most weather. Disneyland doesn’t close or issue rain checks during rainy weather, but guests do have rainy day options. You can reschedule your ticket, enjoy indoor activities, or don a poncho and embrace the rain. Instead of ruining everything, a rainy day can add to the adventure and memories.

Disneyland Rain Policy Options

For better or for worse, Disneyland doesn’t offer rain checks or refunds for rainy days. If you don’t want to go to Disneyland in the rain, you can reschedule your reservation for another day, as long as your chosen day has availability.

There’s still plenty of fun to be had in the rain, and many guests visit Disney even in imperfect weather. The rainy weather usually does lessen the crowds, so you may be able to squeeze in more rides and attractions than usual.

Planning for Rain

Kids with raincoat and an umbrella

Most rain events are simply passing showers. If there’s rain in the forecast, pack a poncho or buy a festive poncho in one of the park’s shops. Ponchos are easier to carry and manage than umbrellas. However, umbrellas provide great coverage, so pack one if it suits you.

A waterproof hat is a great way to get the rain off your head. In addition, waterproof shoes will help you stay comfortable. Flip flops aren’t a great idea for any Disneyland trip but are even more uncomfortable in the rain.

In addition to keeping the rain off yourself, get a rain cover to keep the rain off your stroller or wheelchair. A backpack will help keep your wallet and other necessities dry.

Rain Closures

Some attractions do close in the rain. For example, Disneyland attractions such as Alice in Wonderland, Main Street Vehicles, and Storybook Land Canal Boats may close during rainy weather.

In Disneyland California Adventure Park, Goofy’s Sky School, Jumpin’ Jellyfish, and Redwood Creek Challenge Trail may close.

Outdoor events and attractions like parades usually don’t run in the rain. If there’s lighting in the area, all outdoor attractions will close.

Get Attraction Closure Updates

Disneyland App

Download the Disneyland app, which will show Disneyland rain policy closures and changes. In Disneyland, you can visit City Hall on Main Street to check for closure updates. In Disney California Adventure Park, check with the Chamber of Commerce on Buena Vista Street for updated information.

Rainy Day Activities

A rain shower can provide a good excuse to go shopping or eat lunch. Many lines are indoors or covered, so you shouldn’t get soaked to the bone. Since a rain forecast usually makes some guests change their plans, the parks are often quieter in the rain.

There are also many indoor attractions and shows to enjoy while it rains. For example, the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough is a fun indoor activity where you can climb through the castle.

It's a Small World Attraction at Disneyland

You can enjoy rides like Space Mountain, Star Wars Launch Bay, “It’s a Small World,” and Indiana Jones Adventure. The Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is another great rainy day attraction.

In Disney California Adventure Park, you can visit the Animation Academy and learn to draw Disney characters. Check out Frozen LIVE, The Little Mermaid, Soarin’ Around the World, Guardians of the Galaxy, or Disney Jr. Dance Party.

Enjoy Disneyland in Any Weather

Rain or shine, a trip to Disneyland is sure to be memorable. Explore your best options for getting around Disneyland, check the weather, and enjoy your getaway.
